Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi while delivering his ceremonial speech from Red Fort, announced the Establishment of E-Commerce Platforms especially for Women belonging to the rural areas of India and are working as SHGs (self-help groups).

While addressing the nation, the PM stated that the villages in India are now being connected with the world through Optical Fiber Network, and thus, such initiatives are leading to the digitalization of villages.  While praising the acceleration in the digital entrepreneurs in Indian rural areas, PM mentioned that there are more than 8 crore women from villages around India who are connected with the government for the Digital Initiative.

Thus, this initiative will not only grow the presence of Indian indigenous products in big markets but will also spread awareness for the “Vocal for Local Initiative”. Prime Minister Modi, while introducing the E-commerce initiative for SHGs, stated that such a platform will prepare these women to compete with big markets not only within the country but also abroad.
