It supports the wide range of pro bono projects and brokerage which the charities provide, helping individuals and community groups all over British Columbia. This portal aims of bringing together charities dedicated to the provision of pro bono legal services and access to justice.
We connect volunteer lawyers with people in need of legal advice, who are not eligible for legal aid and cannot afford to pay and with the not-for-profit organisations that support them.
So, what is pro bono legal advice?
“Pro bono” legal services may be provided free of charge when clients have no other access to legal advice or where their case raises a wider issue of public interest.
Many kinds of legal services can be provided pro bono but your request will have to meet certain criteria before a lawyer will agree to act on your behalf. It may be difficult to obtain pro bono services in areas such as criminal and family law.

In recent years there has been increased support for the active coordination of pro bono opportunities and, particularly as a result of the efforts of professional bodies, various initiatives have been undertaken to promote, simplify and encourage pro bono participation across Canada.
