A recent massive cyber-attack hit four popular and affiliated online sports gear websites. The hackers stole over 1.8 million people’s credit card information, including debit card numbers, names, full credit cards, and CVV codes. The data breach affected websites such as Tackle Warehouse LLC, Running Warehouse LLC, Tennis Warehouse LLC, and Skate Warehouse LLC. It was discovered on 15th October 2021, but it was confirmed on 20th December 2021 after an internal investigation.

The website revealed very little about the massive cyberattack, but it is still doubtful whether it is a database breach or a card skimming operation. However, this has resulted in dangerous repercussions on the part of the millions of affected users as the person behind this cyber attack is probably selling personal credit card information on the Dark Web. Thus, it can lead to their credit cards being used in illegal and fraudulent ways.

The Warehouse group stated that online customers had been notified about the same, and a warning had been issued to the financial institutions to monitor suspicious activities. The affected users were not offered any identity protection service this time. We all know that credit card numbers and debit card details are sensitive information any individual has, and their theft can end in catastrophe. Therefore, it is always essential to close the cards immediately if it was virtual or change compromised cards if it was physical. Besides this, online users can resort to Bitdefender Digital Identity Protection (DIP). It is a service that helps in monitoring personal information and notifies if any personal data has surfaced on the web. While using DIP, we are safe and secure, and we are notified of data breaches if they occur, allowing us to take appropriate action.
